The 30-Day Blog Challenge

Hello, everyone! Greetings from Drucilla’s Corner!

This is Robbie West. Drucilla B. Queen has graciously allowed me to write the blog for her today. She is still trying to recover from all the excitement she’s had over the last few weeks. She never realized that having so many diverse guests and writing about them could be so exhausting. But the Queen is made of sturdy stuff and has no intention of slacking off or backing down. That means I will not have another opportunity to talk to you for quite a while.

First, I would like to thank the group of people who have made it possible for me to bring Drucilla to life. The instructors and advisors behind the 30-Day Blog Challenge have brought someone like me, who could not have told you the difference between a page and a post one month ago, so far that I now know the basics for setting up a website with both including menus, categories and tags. I can send out newsletters, invitations and announcements on a self-regulated mailing list. I have been able to coordinate the graphics for images and newsletters in Canva and embed them in my website. But don’t think it was all smooth as butter. Several times during the last month, I was on the verge of pulling out the biggest hammer I owned and showing my computer just what I thought of its inability to work with me. The funny thing is, machines – unlike people – usually know when they have reached the limit of someone’s tolerance and straighten out before it’s too late.

“Our fate could lie in worse hands.”

So, if any of you have ever thought of starting a blog for yourself or simply learning how to build up your own website, try the 30-Day Blog Challenge. You will be proud of the results. The team  of instructors here include that as well in their vigorous program of lessons.

I still have a few more things to work out before Drucilla’s Corner is just as Drucilla and I would like to have it. The room for comments, which I very much want to hear from you, seems to have taken vacation for the last two weeks. Hopefully, we can pull him back into the beehive with the help of the team at the 30-Day Blog Challenge. What’s more, the next time you visit, you should be able to scroll through only the beginnings of the posts and press a button if you would like to read more.

But I have saved the best for last. The pictures you find in Drucilla’s Corner are only fillers for the moment. A local artist and friend of mine is busy creating the images of Drucilla and Dalton for her public debut. I will let you know as soon as they are there.

Oh, and I am also learning how to embed videos in my website. Who knows? Drucilla might even interview you someday!

This is Robbie West signing off until the next time we meet in Drucilla’s Corner.

I was born quite a long time ago on the Mississippi River, in the Quad-Cities, to be exact. I have since traded in the Mississippi for the Moselle in Germany, but I can hardly imagine not living near water. I am by nature a writer. I love to put words together that make an impact, conjure up a dream or cause a tear to roll down a cheek. It is the one clear talent I have brought to the world.
