Welcome to Drucilla’s Corner

If you love to read and write, Drucilla’s Corner was created especially for you. As an incurable bookworm, poet, songwriter and author of middle-grade fiction, I wanted to offer something new to lovers of the fictional world. Several websites such as Good Reads offer reviews of recent books. Drucilla’s Corner is uniquely different. Here the characters are allowed to speak for themselves.

Meet Drucilla B. Queen

To explore her journalistic abilities, Drucilla B. Queen has taken on the task of interviewing characters from fictional worlds other than her own. With Dalton by her side, what could possibly go wrong? As her chief advisor, he is responsible for lining up the interviews and helping the characters come to the behive when they are invited. What better way is there to get people interested in a book than to introduce them to one of its characters? These interviews are nearly as entertaining as the books themselves. The characters have their own varied and uniques experiences and opinions which may differ radically from our own, showing us a perspective we have never considered before.

Have you ever want to meet Frankenstein and hear his version of the story? What about the Wicked Witch of the West? Drucilla tackles some of the most unusual personalities anyone could ever meet. After an interview with Heidi’s grandfather, he doesn’t seem nearly so impenetrable as the people in his village thought. Dalton has put some newborn characters from current books on the invitation list as well.

Dalton, Captain of the Royal Guard and Advisor to the Queen

Drucilla’s methods are not like those of any other interviewer. She sees the world from a bee’s perspective – a queen bee’s perspective, to be exact. The interviews take place in her beehive. Her interviewees rarely know what is expected of them as they stand before her and her court. To avoid any problem of size, Dalton and his comrades in the royal guard have built the “shrinking” machine, which brings every guest down to the right size within seconds (or up to size as the case may be).

So come in and join us in the royal living quarters of the Drucilla’s beehive. A new interview takes place every second and fourth Friday of the month. Who knows? You might even want Drucilla to interview one of your own characters as well.

Between interviews, Drucilla is busy proclaiming her royal opinions of the books in which her guests live. Here too, Drucilla has her own expectations. The final verdict for each book is decided by Dalton and the twelve bees of court, who have to read every book together with the queen. Drucilla is often amazed how they view the world.
